Maidenhead Business Girls Marks First Birthday

Gathering more than 1,100 members in one year, the Maidenhead Business Girls have created a vital support network for local businesses run by women.
Set up a year ago by Amanda Ayres, the Facebook group is now full of business advice, new supplier or buyer links and support for those looking to set up their own enterprise.
To celebrate a successful first year, the group hosted a party at the Sanctum on the Green in Cookham Dean last month, complete with cake made by Caroline Payne of Roli Poli Cakes and goodie bags supplied by Marcia Wilson.

Each attendee brought along a present representing their business to mark the birthday event.
Sophie Comas, of Rimu Marketing, was also in attendance to deliver a workshop on strategy and marketing.

Amanda, who works in freelance marketing said: “I’m surprised by how it gained momentum. After I set up the group there were about 200 members in just 48 hours.

“I wanted to create something for women in the area a support network for businesses. And now we’re putting on talks and workshops to help them even more.”
It is free to be a member of the group, though there are strict guidelines on no adverts being posted on the site.
It’s not a forum for just promoting the businesses, it is somewhere to learn from.
Email if you are interested in joining the group.
