Dear Female Business Owner,

I see you.

I see you trying hard every day.  I know how tiring it is.

You cover it well, but I know how tired you are.

Hang in there.

Keep showing up.

No matter what, and, especially when you feel inadequate, and, when you feel that you have no place owning a small business.

I see you.

Pretending that you know what you are doing and saying that ‘everything is just fine’.

I know you are exhausted from doing it all and some days, the sheer brutal effort of showing up, every, single day is relentless.

I glimpse at you and see you holding on for dear life. You don’t think I am watching, but I am.

I see you.

Desperately trying so hard to keep it all together.

Pretending that you can do it all.

Hoping and praying, no one sees your panic.

Faking it until you make it, hoping nobody catches you out in the process.

I can see the crazy, disillusioned look in your eyes.

I see you.

Looking over your shoulder and thinking, why is everybody else doing better than me?

Why is everybody celebrating their wins?

Why not me?

Why can’t I make this happen?

I see you.

Thinking that you are not good enough.

Watching you trying every, single day.

I know you are terrified.

I know you want to say ‘I give up’.

I see you.

Too terrified to ask for help, thinking you are the only one.

Wondering why running a business is so hard.

Feeling overwhelmed.

Thinking that you are the only one that needs support.

You’re usually the one in control and not needing help.

I am not going to sugar coat it,

It isn’t easy.

It is hard.

It is easier to give up, than keep going.

Please don’t give up on yourself.

I know you are on the verge.

Keep listening to your heart.

Remember your ‘why’.

Show up for yourself.

You will find a way.

You will feel the possibilities in between the panic.

I know you might not believe it, and you might not want to hear it, but it does get easier.

Focus on your vision.

Stop looking over your shoulder.

Don’t let others change your path.

Do it your way.

When you can’t, ask for help.

You are not alone.

There are other women who walk this road.

They will walk it with you.

So stop.

Doubting yourself.

Telling yourself you are not good enough.

Everybody else is better than you.

Let it go.

Every single bit of it.

It’s not true.

There is room for everybody.

Believe in yourself.

You can do this.

Keep showing up.

Every single day.

Even on a bad day.

I see you.

I wrote this letter for anyone that owns a small business and has been telling themselves, they can’t do it.
I wrote this, because this is how I sometimes feel.
A failure, inadequate, isolated, not good enough.
I know these feelings are temporary.
